The central and the largest cinema in the city. The institution has not changed its profile during its 80-year history. Construction of the cinema began in 1936, and in 1940 the first film screening took place. After the war, in 1949, the cinema was expanded to include another movie theater, and in 1964 it became a large format. Until 1992, the institution was named after Chkalov.

Until recently, the cinema was the largest in the region, and now, in addition to showing films, it also hosts various events.
