Khmelnytskyi monument to Taras Shevchenko is located in the center of the city, in the heart of Taras Shevchenko Square. It is a solid monument about 5 meters high, carved from four connected granite blocks. The monumental image of Shevchenko seems to «grow» from stone. Thus an analogy is drawn between the strength of the stone and the steadfastness of the Kobzar’s spirit.The authors of the monument are famous Ukrainian sculptors I. Znoba (idea, project), V. Znoba (implementation of the project) and architect V. Hromykhin. The monument is made of Podillia gray granite.
