Khmelnytskyi Regional Philharmonic

One of the best parts of Haharina Street is a small square at the intersection with Kamianetska Street, which is decorated with a monument to Bohdan Khmelnytskyi and a majestic building of regional Philharmonic. A little more than a century ago this place was a huge wasteland, which had name Horse Square.

Over time the area was built up with one-story houses. Philharmonic appeared here in 1960: the construction of a majestic building with a hall with 750 seats for Petrovskyi (now Starytskyi) Music and Drama Theatre needs was completed at the intersection of Frunze (now Kamianetska) and Haharina streets. The theatre has been here for more than 20 years and in 1982 moved to a new placement, after which the building was transferred to the regional Philharmonic.

It is difficult to list all the famous artists who came on tour to Khmelnytskyi. Many popular singers, dance and music groups performed in front of  Khmelnytskyi people on the stage of regional Philharmonic. Khmelnytskyi scene became a serious test on the way to popularity for many artists.
