Within the framework of the Painted City project, the artists from Ivano-Frankivsk, Yurii and Marta Pitchuks created the Podolyanka with a spindle mural, which is located at the intersection of Podilska and Kaminetska streets. It took more than 30 liters of paint and a dozen more rollers and brushes to work on it!
Mural depicts a woman wearing a jacket typical for the Podillia region.
“She holds a spindle in her hands, which symbolizes the universe. In the global symbolism, this object is magical. Also, the spindle is a symbol of a giant rod on which the sky and the earth revolve. For example, a woman on mural is divided into two parts – the colder one and the warmer. There are two hemispheres behind her head, which symbolize the sun and the moon. A thread begins from the spindle, which smoothly passes into the night sky, supposedly a girl with the help of this tool turns day into night, and night into day, “– said the authors of the work.
