Teofipol region is an unexplored territory for a local tourist. Yes, there are no castles and ancient churches, no breathtaking views, nevertheless the history of this region is full of mysteries and ancient legends.
Basalia. The only version of the origin of the name of the town comes from the name of the founder of Basalia, Prince Vasyl Ostrohzky. Initially, the town was called Basylea Ruska (Latin Basylea Russiae, from the Latin version of the name Vasyl – Basilius). Later the name was transformed into a modern version – Basalia. In 1586 the church was built. In 1597 and 1615 the Basalian castle is being mentioned. Nowadays, we can see the remains of the castle and the church.
Wooden churches. In the villages of Mali Zherebky, Sviatets, Novostavtsi there are ancient wooden churches, which are over 1000 years old!
Bunkers of Stalin Line
Traces of trenches and dugouts can still be seen in the forests around the settlements, fortifications and concrete bunkers stretching all the way to Pinsk are still preserved. A whole fort was hidden among the floodplains of Stokhod near the village of Chervyshcha. Whereas in the village of Toboly, Kamin-Kashyrsky district, in the Pyatihatka tract, fortifications have been preserved, bunkers, also a number of cemeteries where Austrian, German and Russian soldiers and officers are buried in mass graves, for example, in the village of Troyanivka of Manevychi district and the village of Tobols of Kamin-Kashyrsky district. Nowadays, a forest has appeared in many settlements on the site of former military burials.
Mounds in Poliakhove, Vovkivtsi, Kolky. In these villages you can find ancient mounds hidden under a layer of history and modernity.
A tour of the catfish farm in Volytsia – visit to the zoo, tasting of local cuisine. You will be able to visit a unique African clary catfish farm, learn about the technology of its cultivation and even feed the fish yourself. Also in the local recreation complex you will visit a zoo with ostriches, bears, peacocks and other interesting animals.
