The Monument (fountain) to Baron Munchausen

The original composition with the baron was installed in 1970. The authors of the monument were young and, at that time, little-known artists Mykhailo Andriichuk, Hryhorii Mamon and sculptor Valentyna Liashko. The monument is constructed entirely of concrete, small details are made with maximum accuracy, they convey the special color of the favorite character. According to the authors, the composition illustrates the plot of the story “Halved Horse” from the book about the famous traveler and inventor Baron Munchausen. Earlier, the baron’s horse «drank» water from a barrel, and it in turn was pouring out of the holes in the back, filling a small pool.

Today, the monument has fallen into disrepair and needs to be repaired. The sculpture itself is almost undamaged, but the fountain, unfortunately, does not work. However, even without it, the image of the baron-storyteller evokes a sincere smile and pleasant childhood memories.
